Lifetime Warranty

On one hand, our commitment to quality is never compromised. On the other, leather goods are expensive and we recognize that. We want you to be completely satisfied with your investment and our products are handmade to heirloom quality.

We were debating whether to offer a ‘100-Year Warranty’ or a ‘Lifetime Warranty’. To keep to our promise of heirloom quality, a 100-Year Warranty just didn’t cut it for us. Without hesitation we offer you a Lifetime Warranty.

All ChapterOne Leather products made of leather or canvas are subject to our lifetime warranty if damages to the product occurs through the fault or negligence of our craftsmanship provided that the product was used under normal conditions as described below.

Following is an elaborated version of the Lifetime Warranty from what appears in the Returns and Refund Policy. Here we explain certain things for clarity.

When is it applicable?

The lifetime warranty comes into effect on the 91st day from the date of delivery. Until such time the normal ‘Returns and Refund Policy is in effect.

How does it benefit the customer?

Repairs: We will first assess if the item can be repaired. If repairs are possible the product will be repaired. Repairing includes resolving the issue, re-conditioning the leather, re-touching the edges if applicable, and buffing.

Replacements: If the product cannot be repaired, it will be replaced with the current version of the product. If the materials and/or colour of the original product is unavailable, or the product is discontinued, we will work with the customer to provide a suitable replacement.

What does the Lifetime Warranty cover?

The lifetime warranty covers the following:

  • damages in hardware excluding zippers (zippers are constantly subject to movement which is subject to definite wear and tear
  • loose fitting of rivets
  • loosening up of stitching provided the thread is not cut in anyway (such as cuts that are affected due to unreasonable and rough use or deliberate tampering)
  • decay in leather due to poor quality leather panels

Are there things not covered by the Lifetime Warranty?

The lifetime warranty of a leather product does not apply if;

  • it is modified or altered from its original state at the time of purchase because it may alter the durability and structural integrity of the item
  • it is subject to unreasonable use
  • not used as the product was intended to. For example a fashion handbag is subjected to rough use as a field bag, an in cabin travel bag is used as a checked-in luggage, a dog leash is used as a vehicle pull rope, a waist belt is used is used to lift heavy weight objects, etc.
  • damages are caused by neglect. Such as, leather drying up and cracking due to non-conditioning. Leather is essentially skin and it must be given its due care.
  • there is normal wear and tear which includes the discolouration of leather due to aging and the development of a patina
  • leather being moulded to a different shape due to consistent use since leather is an obedient natural material. Leather will take the shape of its consistent method of use. Such as, belts taking the shape of how you wear the belt, wallets taking the shape of how you carry it in your pocket, etc.

How can I ship for repairs or replacements?

Any items processed under our lifetime warranty will be processed through the ‘Returns Shipping Terms’ in effect at the time the warranty is availed.

See our Returns and Refund Policy to know the current process.

What is meant by ‘lifetime’ in the warranty?

The Lifetime Warranty is in effect as long as the product is not discarded and so long as ChapterOne Leather remains in business.
